Facebook Restricts Ad Targeting for Kids

In July 2021, Facebook announced it would restrict advertisers’ ability to target users under 18, removing the option to target kids based on their interests and web activity. The move followed reports from TTP and Reset Australia, which found that Facebook approved ads for things like drugs, alcohol, eating disorders, and gambling targeted at teens. Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) highlighted the findings from a TTP follow-up report in an October 2021 congressional hearing.
